The above image illustrates a PC that we can build, or modify your existing PC, in order to have 2 or more monitors connected to a single computer. The advantage of 2 or more monitors on a single PC is to give you more screen space. Note in the above image that the left monitor is running a Browser while the right monitor is running the email program Outlook Express. When you move your mouse, the cursor transverses from one monitor to the next. For complicated programs like AutoCad and FrameMaker, you can move your tool windows off the main screen to have an unobscured view of your work.
The following are another examples of complicated applications that effectively utilizes the dual monitor setup:
Adobe Photo Shop:
Moved Tool Bars to Left Window leaving the Right Window free to work on the image:
Left Monitor
Right Monitor
C++ Builder:
Moved RAD designer to the Left Monitor and used the Right Monitor to work on the software code:
Left Monitor
Right Monitor
This modification basically consists of installing appropriate video cards in your PC's and installation of a second monitor.
Possible uses:
- Productivity which gives the user more viewable space to work on the screen by moving an applications tool bars and tool boxes on the second screen.
- Productivity when an application is slow in responding, you can move mouse over to the other screen and run another application.
- Productivity when you need be able to view two or more applications simultaneously in order to cut and paste or make decisions based on two applications data showing at same time.
